My husband (Brandon Backe) is going to have Tommy John surgery. Which means he won’t be able to pitch again until probably 2008! Yuck. I still think they need to keep him in the dugout. Not to take away from his manhood, but he is a great cheerleader. He gets hype.

It is football time again, baby! And I am still submersed in baseball, but I am also keeping an eye on my Bearkats.
And as far as the school goes, this article cracked me up…we are apparently one of the “Best in the West.” And the article makes a point to say we were NOT listed as a party school…unlike our friends at UT. Ha. Goofball writers.
So…I feel like I have not been on here in forever. And yes, I know it was just last week. That is what happens when you run away to hickville!! And yes, it was good to see Marilyn since she broke her arm, and it was good to do laundry, but I just felt the need to get the hell out of Houston. Just needed a change. Stayed away from the internet, did not watch much tv, and just chilled. Hope everyone had a good weekend! It freakin rained again, so there was no baseball. That sucked. And there will be no baseball this weekend, either. Oh well. This weekend will be good, anyway. Austin, baby! Have a good week, kids!

Yes, that is me sitting in the Astros’ dugout. Whoo-freakin-hoo. We had a luncheon on the field at MMP, and then we got to take the tour. It was great. All the attendees got really fun giveaways from the Astros, and the food was good, too. Although not the burger I had my heart set on! Might be the best day I have had at the Partnership since I started. Sometimes you receive some fun perks working here! Plenty of pictures, so be sure to check those out, too!

Fruity Cheerios. Everyone must go out and buy these immediately! They are like froot loops, without that damn sugar after taste. You can actually taste the fruit juice flavors. Am I a commercial or what?? Anyway…seriously…these things are GREAT. I mean, I love cereal in general. At any given time I have 4 or 5 different kinds in my house…and they change often. But these may find a permanent place on the roster. Seriously!
Damn Astros. And damn rain. I want it to stop raining so we can play baseball this weekend!!! Maaaaan. I also want cleats. Anyone who would like to volunteer to buy these for me may send me an email.

I have a new addiction! And it is called Grey’s Anatomy. *sigh* One month from today is the season 3 premiere. Told ya I was addicted. I actually watched all of season 2 in less than a week…Mick should be proud. Ha. Anyway…not much going on except work! Had a pretty fun weekend…pics are up. No baseball, unfortunately, but I am hopeful this weekend it WILL NOT RAIN.

Marilyn apparently fell this morning at the school and broke her arm. The woman has never broken anything in her life! And now she falls down walking in to work and breaks her arm. Turns out she has to be completely difficult and not just break her arm like a normal person…no…the break is actually in her ELBOW. Damn. She is on her way to Beaumont Bone & Joint Clinic…which we like to say we practically paid for with all of Jay’s broken arms over the years. I really think they should have named the new wing they built after him!! I still don’t even know if it was her right or left arm…that should be interesting, as a teacher that needs to write every single day. Hmm. At least she will have some good drugs and get to miss school for a day or two! I am sure she is excited about that. If she was not already so loopy. Ha. As Cristina says…Poor Marilyn!

Second time this week. They freakin rocked. Lidge scared us for a minute, but he came through in the end. We got to wear our jerseys. Now Cristina wants one. Haha. It was a ton of fun, of course. 
Except I just found out that freakin Matthew McConaughey was at the game tonight. I LOVE him. Damn!

Last night’s Astros game was fun. And we freakin won. And Lidge struck out the side. And my husband pitched very well. And it was DOLLAR HOT DOGs….seriously. Pretty groovy. Except I could have completely had another hot dog….or two. Astros again tomorrow. Whoo-hoo!!

But I have promoted myself to GM. Dude…I spent a bit of time on Sunday driving around Houston scouting out fields. I must also declare that it was my freakin idea to find out if the City of Houston even let you reserve fields in the first place. Summer gets a lot of that credit, though, because she actually called the number I found to the permit office and got the info.
Granted, the field this past weekend left a bit to be desired. Not that I cared…a field is a field! Although a fence in the outfield would have been nice. Once again had enough people for two teams. It was a lot of fun. People are really going to start getting good if we keep playing every week. Except me. I seem to get worse every week! Or at least get more bruises. Haha. Jay even joined us this week. After attempting to join us last time, and then it was cancelled because of the rain.
Anyway…point is, I found two fields that are acceptable to play on now. So that gives us 3. Two baseball and a nice softball field as a last resort. Whoo-hoo.
Hope everyone had a good weekend! Mine was pretty damn good. Got to see a lot of people on Saturday and Sunday. Friday was a blast. Even though I did not feel that great. Still took pictures, though. So check those out. It was Part I of Carl’s birthday celebrations…Friday at bond with Summer’s crew.
