Camping

Filed under: Home — Jill @ 1:53 pm

I am being brave in a couple of weeks and going camping. Why brave, you ask? Let me tell you….I have NEVER been camping. And I have never had such a reaction to anything that has come out of my mouth, but everyone flips when I say that. It is true, though. And my response to people who don’t believe it is that I am from the damn country. Why would I want to drive and sleep in a tent when I had the comfort of a house and could walk out the back door and be in the forrest practically??? Such a waste. :-) I am getting excited. Even though Lydia has me scared to death!! So wish me luck. :-)

I am boycotting online ordering!

This is my new thing. I have not had much success with this lately. I have always been fond of online shopping, but lately I have been completely unlucky. Let me start at the beginning…I have a new favorite shirt. Yes, I know that sounds cheesy. But I have just a blue cotton halter-top shirt that is completely comfortable…which means I probably wear it way too much. It has turned into my “Rice Village” shirt. Anyway….the point is that I love the damn shirt. So when I found the shirt on gap.com for $9.99, just in a different color, I got excited and ordered the stupid thing. Can’t hurt to have two, right?? Another reason I hate online shopping now….unless you order a ton of stuff and get free shipping, they totally screw you on that! Anyway…I finally get my package in the mail, open it, and what is inside? Is it a cute green top? NO. WHITE JEANS. They sent me white jeans. What the hell?? And this was after Labor Day…so what the hell did I want with white jeans? And yes, I did check the size just to see. And they were at least 4 sizes too big. Ha. :-) That is my gap story. I also have a CVS story. I am just frustrated with online buying in general!! Grrr….

On to a more cheerful topic…Astros games have been awesome to watch lately. Absolutely crazy to be 2.5 games back from the Cardinals. Although maybe I am the crazy one…especially when I realize I am watching the Cardinals games on their home page, through that gameday screen. Goofball. Oh well!

Hope everyone is having a better week than me! I have a rather large, sold out event on Thursday…speaking of, if I don’t turn off online registration soon I will be in big trouble. Damn. To me being sold out is a good thing, but everyone keeps saying we don’t want to turn people away! Well…too damn bad! Because the hotel that I have is the only one that was available on Sept 28…and I am maxing out its ballroom. And I am also going crazy because this hotel is my favorite, and my contact there was an absolutely awesome person to work with. But now he is gone, so I have a new contact. But he is a little too much of a salesman for me.

Hope everyone has a good rest of their week!

Luck…

I broke a pair of my fave shoes today after an event at the InterContinental…they are kind of like flip flops, but really dressy, and the whole strap freakin came off!! I could not even keep the shoe under my heel after that. It was a trip just getting to the garage. That better not be a sign of how my weekend is going to go!!! :-( Thank goodness I live right across the street and could go home before I came back to the office. Damn.

Although, the InterContinental is always fun to go to…so maybe that is a balance against a broken shoe. Hmm….

All you people that did not watch Grey’s Anatomy last night missed out. It rocked. And yes, I forgot to record it for Rebecca B. Who is a little busy finalizing the details of her wedding tomorrow. So I suck!

Have a good and safe weekend!

Random stuff…

Grey’s Anatomy premieres tonight. :-) Cannot wait! Some of the girls are coming over to watch it, like the crazies that we are.

Hmm…I officially have a new apartment and roommate. Had to go through two days of hell with the complex I am in now to get it, but oh well!

Work is nuts…have 3 events I am working at the moment, plus quite a few others I am assisting on.

Oh yeah, and I deleted my myspace page. So this is the only internet-based site I am on! Feel free to communicate with comments on here or send an email. :-) Of course, then there is always the phone. Ha. Yeah right. Most of us dont use the phone for anything other than text messages!

Cross your fingers…Jay may be playing baseball soon for a new college…we shall see! He is being looked at very seriously. Lucky brat!

Hope everyone is having a good week!

That’s right. That is not Danny in a disguise, pretending to be Larry Dierker. That is the REAL Larry Dierker. Whom we accosted on his way back from the restroom at an event yesterday. He was not actually at our event, but at the one next door. If you have not been to the Downtown Aquarium, everyone needs to go. It is a really cool place…they paid so much attention to all the little details. And you may meet Larry Dierker! Go Astros! :-) Speaking of….was Oswalt badass today or what?? He is actually kind of frightening sometimes.

Random tidbits…

Today is only Wednesday, right?? Man. This has been the longest week, already. Although, I did have a good night last night…got to see two of my FAVORITE girls. Loreal and Anais. Anais I have seen a couple of times lately, but I have missed out on Loreal for a LONG time! I have missed those girls. :-) Crazy asses.

Other random items this week…

Had Red Robin AGAIN Sunday night. That was festive. I think I am addicted. To Red Robin burgers and Chipotle tacos. YUM. That was lunch on Monday. :-)

I did not carpool yesterday, so I was going home through River Oaks, and there was an accident on Kirby. A car had hit a person riding a bicycle, and the person was laying half-in, half-out of the street. It looked horrible. The ambulance had not even gotten there yet. She was moving a little, but you could tell she was hurt pretty seriously. Poor thing.

This morning I woke up at 3:30 in the morning. And when I say wide-awake, I don’t mean I was drowsy and then just went back to sleep. NOPE. Not me. I was very alert and could have gotten up and started my day at that point. Retarded. I have not figured this one out. And it is driving me nuts.

Oh yeah…a new Target opened up closer to downtown, so lunchtime Target trips will actually be real lunch hours. Imagine that! It would be helpful if some food places opened up around there, though. At least something besides a damn Wachovia Bank. Those seem to be the new Starbucks…one on every corner.

Let’s see what else…they are going to let me be a “buddy” to a new hire at work. That is crazy in itself. Your buddy kind of gives you the Partnership orientation…takes around and introduces you, shows you where everything is, takes you to lunch a time or two, etc. Is really just a fellow employee in a different division that you can go to if you have any questions. My buddy back in the day was Blanca. She rocked. :-)

Hope everyone has a good rest of your week!

RAIN

When I am at my parent’s house there is nothing I like more than being on the front porch while it is absolutely storming. It is the most peaceful place and time in the world. But damn it…I am sick and tired of it raining in Houston. Besides the fact that everyone freaks out and forgets how to drive, the rain keeps causing baseball to be postponed!! Ridiculous. We have not played baseball for real in weeks. Every time we even mention the word, the skies open up and the doppler turns red and yellow. Damn it!!!

Fun Weekend…

Pics are up from Friday…this weekend was a blast, but crazy busy.
Friday turned out to be a lot of fun, at least for me, anyway! Even though Red Star did not pan out. Not real happy with them at the moment. That place is not worth a cover and expensive-ass beer. If they are going to start charging normal prices, they could at least turn the damn A/C on! Bastards. Anyway…finally ended up with the crew in Rice Village. Ginger Man and then Bronx Bar. A bit of dancing, a bit of hanging out, a bit of drinking, etc.

Saturday rocked as well. Ooh…I got to see that movie Step Up. :-) Thanks, Crystal! Made you want to go dance, though. No dancing, but did get to enjoy a dollar hot dog while watching the UT/Ohio football game with Daniel and Summer. That was good - would have been better if UT had won, though! Damn Buckeyes. That ended just in time for me to go pass out and sleep! I was worn out. So sad. Missed a fun chance to go out, but I just don’t think I could have physically made it. Man. Such a nerd.

Sunday I got to hang out with Jenny. That was groovy. :-) And played baseball for a bit, thanks to Mick’s organizational skills! Good job, kid. :) You could take my event coordinating job.
Hope everyone has a good week!

My fave Astro underwent a successful surgery!
