I really lose count of how many times this gets yelled at college baseball games. :) At least the ones where my brother is pitching!! Ha. He did AWESOME yesterday. There is no way I would even stand in the batter’s box and pretend to swing when he pitches…his ball has way too much movement on it, and it is being thrown way too hard. I would bust a Valverde and just stand there till they told me it was time to go back in the dugout. Anyway….Jay rocked it. :) More photos are posted in the photo section….

Go Astros…

I am loving baseball right now. GO ASTROS. The game yesterday was especially good. Lots of back and forth with the scoring, but it ended up a win. Dollar tickets can be just as fun as others! Haha! Saturday the seats were much better, but we lost, so that is never good. We did get caps as the giveaway on Saturday. But I didn’t get a green hat yesterday, so boooooooooo………

Congratulations, Summer and Daniel!

Summer and Daniel rock. They rode in the BP MS 150 this past weekend. Apparently they had a blast! While I was having a completely lazy weekend, I was getting text messages with Summer’s progress. It was cool to be able to know they had safely arrived at different destinations. I kept hearing about wrecks on the news! Ha! I thought they were nuts…but I am really impressed and excited for them! Congratulations, kids. :)

Running again…

Filed under: My Day — Jill @ 10:39 am

I am a glutton for punishment. For some reason, I got it in my head that I should start running again. And so I began…and let me tell ya, being out of shape SUCKS. Granted, I am not running very far or very fast yet. HAHA. It does feel good the day after, but MAN…while I am at the park I could completely pass out. One benefit is that I actually crave healthier food when I exercise more often. What a concept!

My eye appt story…

Filed under: Home — Jill @ 8:39 am

I had a follow-up visit to my eye doctor yesterday, and I had kind of a strange conversation in the waiting room…it is actually a good thing my name was called so quickly, or I would have been on the news for causing a disruption at Berkeley Eye Center. My little afternoon story goes like this….

After I checked in at the counter for my appointment, I went and sat in the waiting area…there are only about 6 or 7 chairs, and a man in his 40s was sitting at one end, and I sat at the other. The dude happened to be sitting by the only end table, which contained all the magazines available for perusal. He picks one up and offers it to me, which was polite…but it was House & Garden, and I am not at all interested (mainly because I have neither house nor garden), so I just said “No, thank you…” He shrugs, puts the magazine down and then says “Well, the only other stuff that is over here is Sports Illustrated.” And proceeds to go back to reading….Sports Illustrated….without offering me any of the other copies on the table. It was subtle, yes…but how damn sexist. Apparently the only magazine I could have been interested in was House & Garden, and since I didn’t want that one, he didn’t believe in offering me anything “non-woman” related. Give me a break! I know I tend to be overly sensitive about things like this, so I told the story and got some opinions….and other women I know would have been offended as well! Come on, man! Tons of women like sports…and enjoy reading Sports Illustrated! :)
