I know this is late, but I am still excited that the Cubs got swept in the first round of the playoffs. I’m also tired of hearing about how long it has been since they won a World Series. Poor poor Cubs….well guess what…the Astros have never won a World Series!! Kind of hard to solicit pity for that one.

I really don’t have a commentary on this one. I wasn’t there, so I can’t say which side will prove to have been out of control. We shall see. I hope it all turns out okay, though!

This was sad…and happy at the same time. It was sad because Biggio won’t be playing anymore, but also a celebration of his career. The Bagwell jersey retirement was, in my opinion, completely depressing. Mainly because of the differences in how they retired. Bagwell really didn’t have a choice…his shoulder made the decision for him. Biggio got to do it the way he wanted…got his 3,000 hits, got to have a last game, etc. I missed the last game, but it was hard enough to watch it on TV. Biggio and Bagwell ARE the Astros. Someone mentioned how rare it would be now for a player to enter the MLB and stay with one team for so long…it is easy to forget how big of a deal that is. Blanca was also at the retirement….she cried, too.

I swear, the Astros are the hard luck team of the MLB. Every time things seem to be moving in a positive direction, something bad happens. They have been winning and doing pretty well since the all-start break, and now Lee has a broken hand and is out for the season. And yes, I know, it isn’t like they would have made the post-season. But it is just one more bad thing to happen to destroy momentum…both for the team’s morale and for Lee himself.

I ran into another Astro today. Brad Ausmus was at Fuddrucker’s having lunch with his family while I was also having lunch. He is HOT in person. And no, I didn’t go all crazy and go up and bother him and get a picture. He was with his kids, so that wouldn’t have been cool! I just gawked before leaving. So I am adding him to the list…

Honorable mention addition goes to Shane Battier, my FAVE Houston Rocket, whom I ran into (literally!) at an Astros game this season. I was too busy babbling to actually speak to him, and he just said “excuse me, sorry…” and kept going. Oh yeah…and I saw Mutombo at Luby’s during lunch once. Dude seems ten feet tall.

Astros can take a series from the Red Sox, but get swept by the PIRATES. ‘Nuff said.
Poor Astros. There really isn’t much else to say! At least I still call them the Astros….and not Lastros or Disastros. Ha! I am just hoping we can work on the farm system and get that back in order. That is the future!!

So it has been decided that I jinx the Astros. To which I say, oh well! After winning their games Friday and Saturday, they got shut out on Sunday when I was in attendance. Ha.
Congrats to Summer….she will be starting a new job soon! I am very excited for her! She deserves it!
Cristina also got a new position at her company…so congrats to her, too!
This weekend was good…busy, but not overly so. Friday was a ton of fun…a group of people for late-night sushi. Poor Christine…she got out-sushied by Lauren and Jose. But at least she and Jason could admit it.

Okay, so the Astros vs. Red Sox games were way better than the Yankee ones. Not only did we win two out of three, but the games were just GOOD. Saturday’s was back and forth, and Sunday’s had a dramatic last few innings. MUCH better. I need Drayton to get on that A/C at MMP, though. Dude…it is STUFFY up in the nose bleeds. Especially when the games are sold out. The A/C vents send air OVER the top section….that is useless! Seriously…who doesn’t make sure that there is GOOD A/C in a Houston, TX facility?? My office building is FREEZING. Maybe we can transfer some of that A/C across downtown. Hmm.
ANYWAY…the games were a ton of fun to watch this weekend. Although the funniest part was the drunk guy in the street after Sunday’s game yelling “We won the series! We beat the Red Sox! Let it be noted - JULY 28 and 29!!!” Dude was so drunk he skipped a month. PRICELESS.

Ok, I didn’t realize how tired I looked till I saw the bags under my eyes. Oh well. Today was Father’s Day, and this is a picture with my daddy. We were at the Astros vs. yankees game. BOOOOOOO. I really did not think I would get excited to see A-rod, Jeter, Posada, etc…..until A-Rod came out and started warming up about ten feet away from us. I was like a groupie. He is a big dude! And just for Blanca…he is HOT. ANYWAY….the giveaway today was a father’s day astros’ tie. It was pretty nice, and we had a lot of fun at the game. Even though we got SPANKED.
