I am tired of being SICK.

I am sad the Olympics are over. I feel like I missed a bunch of it with the time difference and the scheduling. Booo. I did get to see a lot of the diving, which I love…gymnastics, track and swimming. I even saw the final match for table tennis. That stuff is amazing! The Chinese are like robots. Especially in the diving. And dude….there is no way their little gymnast girls are 16! Oh well. They got away with it, so time to move on! I did hear some radio talk show guys make an interesting comment the other day….they said that if you look at what the Chinese were dominating in, it was the sports where judges make the decision. A judge gives you a rank based on the impression made upon that judge. The ones the Chinese weren’t so dominant in were the sports where a judge is just overseeing…but doesn’t determine the outcome. Like gymnastics/diving vs. racing. I don’t know how true that would be or not. I just thought it was interesting. But let me tell you…I actually watched the diving, and all the Chinese divers deserved the scores they got. They were amazing. Kind of freakishly good, actually.

Hope the newest hurricane doesn’t come through just in time to ruin my big event next week. That would suck, to say the least.

I am tired of rain. I want to get my car washed, but no there is no point because it is just going to rain and dirty it up again! P.S. I still LOVE LOVE LOVE my car. :)

We have some real crazies at my job. And by crazies, I mean people who are a waste of oxygen. I also mean that quite literally. One of the crazies in particular often talks to herself and mumbles a lot. And doesn’t seem to ever remember conversations you had with her. Hmm.

I am ready for real television shows to come back on. I am sick of reality TV and reruns. Except for Project Runway, of course. :) I am looking forward to the following:

Fringe
Heroes
Bones
Grey’s Anatomy
How I Met Your Mother

I know there are some more, but I forget the names. I saw commercials for a couple I had not heard of yet the other day that sounded really interesting.

On that note, I need DVR!

I want sno-cones. And corn in a cup. :) Damn you, Blanca!

I miss the old Project Runway

I don’t like as many of these designers this season. I like Kenley, and Terri and Jerell mainly. But the rest are just kind of there. I miss Laura! And Christian! And Jillian! And Jeffrey! And Michael!

Booooooooo

Other shows I cannot get enough of:

Torchwood

Doctor Who

The Dresden Files

Bones

MI5

Angel

Buffy

No fat people in the Olympics?

Filed under: News, television — Jill @ 1:59 pm

Well, duh. I mean, come ON….people find all sorts of stuff to complain about. :) I really like how supposedly the ratings are good JUST because the primetime sports have pretty, toned, athletic people competing. Well, DUH, again.  Isn’t this the Olympics? A worldwide ATHLETIC event?? I did find the commentator funny during the women’s synchronized platform diving last night. The Canadian girls were not the typical tiny divers…they looked like normal girls. Not fat or chunky by any means…but they had thighs, hips, like normal people do. And the commentator kept saying how much harder it is for them to have less splash, and she kind of hesitated and then said “Because they aren’t as streamlined.” Haha…nice way of calling them nonskinny!! I did enjoy this quote from the Houston Chronicle today, about Michael Phelps:

When the 23-year-old swimmer lowered the top of his Speedo LZR Racer suit to a full foot below his navel Sunday night in cheering his teammate in the final leg of the 4X100 relay, he looked like a 21st-century version of Michelangelo’s David. He also veered dangerously close to R-rated territory. Straight women and gay men across the nation were reaching for their smelling salts.

Phelps is a MONSTER

Seriously. Did anyone else watch him win another Gold last night?? He is freakin amazing.

Also, way to go for the men’s gymnastics team. Or as I like to call them, the mini people. Seriously. They look like these big, burly men that have just been shrunk. As opposed to just being short. There is a difference.

P.S. I got reminded about shrink-a-dinks. That is exactly what the men gymnasts seem like! I had forgotten all about those things.

Swimming relay….4X100….

TV’s Greatest Fat Men…

Filed under: television — Jill @ 12:15 pm

I could not help but pass this one on…this is a list of the best fat men on TV. Hilarious. The usual suspects are all there, Homer, Peter Griffin, Norm Peterson, etc. The funny thing is, as Summer just pointed out, there are a ton of fat guys on TV!! And most, if not all, have hot wives! Or hot girlfriends. Something that has long been a concept on television. The male is either fat or stupid or ugly, or all of the above, then the wife is always smarter, thinner and better looking in general! Anyway…it is a great list…check out the link here….
