Okay, Texans fans…

Can’t you be happy for your team? I have lost count of how many Texans fans are on twitter and Facebook making comments about their texans interlaced with insults about the Cowboys players/fans/etc. Why can’t you separate those two things? You are taking away from your own team when you do that. You think THEY want their identity wrapped up with another football team? Hell no! So please…just congratulate your team on an amazing season. And leave other teams and the trash-talking out of it! Jeez.

2012 Olympic Marathon Trials

So so cool! I was always planning on going to watch this, but then Lydia said that Brookfield was having breakfast and chairs and stuff for people that were watching, so I went with her. These people are amazing when they go by. We were at the spot for mile 1, 9, 17 and 25.

I jinxed it…

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jilly @ 10:01 pm

I spoke too soon about my apartment! Last night I went to bed about 11, but then woke up at 1 because it sounded like it was raining super hard. Hard enough that I got up and went to the window, only to realize that the water sound was BEHIND me at that point. It was coming out of a little hole in my ceiling in a steady stream. Bit it was a tiny stream, and it was 1 in the morning, so I put a garbage can under it and went to bed. About 15 minutes later, the water got even louder, so I turned on my light to see water streaming out from my fan. It was like a shower got turned on! *sigh* The maintenance men actually got there at about 2…but by the time they got it turned off and semi-fixed, all of my bedroom carpet was wet! No furniture or anything, though, since it was in the middle of the room.

I spent the time while they were working laying on my couch – until about 4 in the morning. Then I ended up sleeping in the study on the twin bed because the leftover water dripping out of the ceiling into the garbage can was SO LOUD I couldn’t get to sleep. Needless to say I did NOT make it to work on time! And Im a TAD cranky today, to say the least. Ha.

The management office has already called me twice about this, though, so that’s the best part about this place. They are so on top of things. Have already told me what time they will be calling me tomorrow to make sure that everything was fine when I got home tonight, and explained exactly what they will be doing next to finish fixing it. Really great management team!

Dumb dumb cat

After being gone for three days, I came home and couldn’t find Caesar. I looked at his automatic feeder, and all the slots were still full of food, so that meant he had not eaten since Friday morning when I left. I found the idiot locked in my bathroom. I noticed last week that he had started knocking the bathroom door closed a little because he likes it dark, but this time he closed the damn thing all the way. Probably early Friday morning. So he had been without food and water for three days!!

He seems fine now. Dumb cat.

BearKat Weekend!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jilly @ 2:14 am

I spent the past weekend in the Dallas area with my BearKat crew!

Friday I drove to Brandi’s in Arlington to be ready to cheer on SHSU during Saturdays FCS national championship game. First time SHSU had made it that far. I think they made it to the quarter or semi finals when I was in college, but never to the finals.

Saturday started crazy early to be in frisco by 10 for tailgating. And it was pretty cool. The weatherman totally lied. Was supposed to be sunny and high 60s, but was cloudy and windy and about 50! Oh well.

Sam Houston did not win the game, which was sad! First loss of the season. Sucky time to have that! They just don’t have a quarterback. When I was in college we had awesome quarterbacks but not such great defense. Now they have great defense but no quarterback. He was awesome all year, but the offense fell apart in Saturdays game. Still an awesome time, though! Great experience.

Say What You Mean? No?

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jilly @ 10:51 pm

I had a huge discussion recently with a guy about a situation with his ex. Let’s see if I can make this clear while still being vague.

Girlfriend asked Boyfriend for permission to do Event A. BF said that GF could do whatever she wanted about Event A. GF proceeded to do Event A, at which point BF got pissed. His reasoning was “I told her she could do it, but I was hoping she could use common sense.”

Huh?? Why do people do this? Do you just like the drama that you know will come into play when this person doesn’t listen to what you did NOT say, but instead listens to what you actually freakin said??

I get so confused. I dated a guy once that would say “that does not bother me at all” about things, but then later he would get pissed and when I asked why the response was “it doesn’t matter, you can do what you want.” Uh…obviously NOT.

I don’t get this second-guessing thing. I always try to say what I mean and be honest. But even when I say something won’t bother me, nobody believes me because there are crazy people out there like the above. Not to say that I always manage it, but my goal is to always let people know where they stand with me. And I expect that in return. Problem is, I don’t always get it. So confusing.

I was just thinking about this earlier for some reason. There is no dramatic hidden story. Ha! ;)

Oh, Target

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jilly @ 4:06 pm

I don’t know how I can remember so many details about so many things, and hell, other people’s lives, but I find it very difficult to go get groceries or even to go to Target without a list. A very detailed check list. And yesterday, I didn’t even succeed with that! The very first thing that was on my list was toilet paper. Easy enough, right? Nope. Somehow after I got done “tweaking” my list, I spent an hour and $80 in there! But that’s okay, because it is Target and I absolutely needed everything I ended up with, right? Ha!

This morning I was going to rearrange a couple of shelves in my bathroom to make room to store rolls of toilet paper. And I looked around and realized I didn’t actually SEE any new packages of toilet paper. Hmm. Im so dumb. I had put the toilet paper in the bottom of my basket – then did NOT pay for it. Good news is I didn’t steal it…I just left it in the bottom of the basket in the parking lot! *sigh* So Im not a thief, but I managed to get out of Target without the very first item on my list. Dumb dumb dumb!

Differences in apartments

I don’t want to jinx it, but I have had really good experiences so far with my new place. Even as far as the community goes. This is a little thing, but I can’t stop thinking about it. I had a package from Resto that apparently was on a UPS truck that got into an accident, so it was delivered late. Delivered after I had already left for Warren for Christmas on Friday morning. The delivery time was 10 a.m. or something on Dec 23.  So I figured there is no way in hell that package will still be there by the time I get back. I was even already trying to figure out who I would report it to – UPS or Resto. I always get confused on that. Especially since it was just sitting on my stoop until I got home on the evening of December 26. I was completely SHOCKED to find this big box that says “RESTORATION HARDWARE” across it in big letters STILL sitting in front of my door. I could not believe it. I have had so many packages jacked it isn’t even funny. Mainly because some UPS drivers are too lazy to take packages to the office. I was so excited!

Weird Work Week

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jilly @ 10:23 pm

WWW! This is the first time in 8 years that I have worked the week between Christmas and New Year’s. Well, I have had to go in for a couple of days every year for Annual Mtg stuff, but I didn’t HAVE to…and I could go in at any time I wanted, dressed however I wanted. So that doesn’t really count. This time it is just a normal work week. And the funny thing is – I don’t really mind! I guess that is the difference between liking and disliking your job. What a concept!

Don’t get me wrong, I still miss the people at the old place. And the new place isn’t stress-free….I like to call it stress-lite. It is a busy kind of stress, but not a “If I have to answer one more stupid question about this crap Im going to cuss someone out” kind of stress. :) See the difference??!!!

I am busy this week, too. Not only at work, but at home. Trying to get the last few things in my apartment organized. Except I am too superstitious to take down my Christmas decorations before New Year’s, so those are some boxes that I can move to the back of the closet yet. And I need to bust out the drill for a couple of more things, and run some more cables around the room. That should be interesting! Hopefully they work. Hmm. I think I could be dangerous with the drill. I find all sorts of things now that might need a little touch-up or a screw added to it. :) Im nuts! And I want to get rid of the TV in my bedroom. But who the heck wants a huge TV like that??! I think I read somewhere that Goodwill would come get donations like that. We may be the way to go.

Parties!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jilly @ 8:50 pm

Im really behind on posting. The week of Dec 15 was a pretty good one. I went to three Christmas parties in a row. Even though it was a blast, I was exhausted!

- Company christmas party at Lucky Strike was pretty fun. What was even better was having the next day off!

- PPD Girls get together was hilarious, as always. I love how much time is spent laughing with these girls!

- Kristin’s annual Christmas dinner was super nice. The italian restaurant we were at was super yummy, and it was nice to see everyone in such a good mood and ready for the holidays! I won the first question of trivia in both rounds. :) People need to learn how to use their smart phones better! (yes, you were SUPPOSED to use your smart phone.) Apparently I am the google QUEEN.

- I also managed to get ALL of my Christmas shopping done on that same weekend. All on Sunday before lunchtime. Ive decided the trick to this is finishing my entire list before I start buying anything. Then make NO deviations! Just go to the exact store and get the original item you planned on. Ha. It also helps that I was at the outlet store when it opened on Sunday morning. Place was EMPTY. I even got in and out of the Disney Store in 15 minutes. Awesome.

- This isn’t a holiday party, but the week before Christmas Kristin and Clair and I had dinner at Cyclone’s and then hung out at my apt. Those two chicks are crazy. Haha.

- Wednesday before Christmas Cristina and I had a girl’s day. Which included haircuts, lunch and wine at Ruggles, cupcakes, shopping and pedicures! Such an AWESOME day. No work emails were allowed, either! Ive decided I could totally be one of those River Oaks rich chicks that does nothing but run “errands” like that all day long while wearing workout clothes. Without actually ever going to workout. Ha! I ended that day with two of my favorite guys and happy hour – Daniel and Jorge and a really freakin hard game of 80′s trivia. I have ALWAYS sucked at trivia. I can’t handle the pressure! I like the games we play at Saint Arnolds better. Cards and dominoes. Ha. Im taking Yahtzee next time!
